Hi, I'm Mariana
I'm a photographer, an artist, and a mom of two here in Hewlett, and I've spent years doing the thing I care most about: helping families hold on to how this time actually felt.
Photography isn't just something I picked up, it's what I studied. I hold a BFA in Photography and Imaging from Queens College, graduating Magna Cum Laude, along with a degree in Psychology, which turns out to be surprisingly useful when your subject is four days old or four years old and has strong opinions. I'm currently pursuing my master's in Museum Studies at NYU, so my eye is trained by fine art, not trends: light, color, honest emotion, and composition come first in everything I shoot.
I work with professional equipment and edit every image individually by hand, the same care I bring to my fine art practice goes into every family gallery I deliver.
I photograph newborns at home and in the studio, families, maternity, and children across Long Island, the Five Towns, and downtown Manhattan. Some sessions are calm and slow, some are loud and messy in the best way. Both make beautiful photographs, because both are true.
